Mark Ludmon has been a professional journalist for over 25 years and specialises in writing about theatre. He freelances for BritishTheatre.com and previously wrote for titles such as Amateur Stage and Soloarte but has been reviewing theatre since working for the student newspaper at Manchester University where he studied English & American Literature. After journalism training at Cardiff University’s School of Journalism, he started his career at regional daily newspapers The News in Portsmouth and the Chronicle & Echo in Northampton, moving on to become editor at various national weekly and monthly magazines in the hospitality and marketing sectors. He has also dabbled in arts PR, working with Portsmouth Arts, Portsmouth’s New Theatre Royal and the Heritage Lottery Fund.
He has an MA in Renaissance Studies, specialising in early modern theatre, from the University of London’s Birkbeck College and a research-based MA in theatre studies, including theatre criticism and dramaturgy, from the university’s Royal Central School of Speech & Drama.
